Case Studies in Success
The woman is 35 years old and lives with her three children and her younger sister in a small rented and rundown mud house. Her children are in the ages from 8 years to 13 years old and are all in school at present. When the woman’s husband since 9 years discovered that she was HIV-positive last year (2007) he sold their shared furniture and left her. She managed to buy back her furniture but this really minimized her capital. She has not heard anything from her husband since he left and she does not have any contact with his family members. She also has complicated family problems and for this reason her 13 years old sister is staying with her. She has worked with selling different products in the past. At present she is buying underwear and kangas (fabric used as traditional clothing) from wholesale shops and sells this in the streets and to customers in different companies. She has some regular costumers but her main problem is that she often has to give people her items on credit. Because of having a small capital this cases her lot of problems. Her wish is to have an increased capital, and to be able to sell half of her items on credit and the other half in cash sale; this would make it easier for her and increase her profit.
