The woman is 40 years old and has been working for Pamoja Tunaweza as a part time HIV counselor but needs a source of income on the other days. The woman has three children and two of them are staying at home. She is HIV positive and one of her children is positive as well. Her husband died in 2001. She has been working as a volunteer at Mawenzi hospital (a government hospital in the region); here she was conducting counseling for HIV/AIDS patients at CTC (HIV clinic), and was assisted for this job by an NGO. Before this she was buying Vitenges and Kangas (fabric for dresses) from Dar es Salam and selling these in Moshi. At present the woman buys wood and soap from villages and sells this in town. Her wish is to open a small shop in her neighborhood where she can sell different items on the days that she is not helping to counsel our clients.
